Funding policy
Cultura, Ciencia y Deporte (CCD) is an open access journal that is financed through a combination of institutional support and an article processing fee (APC), which is applied only to manuscripts accepted after passing the peer review process. This APC covers the editorial, technical and maintenance costs necessary to ensure the quality, visibility and sustainability of the publication.
The Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM), as the publishing institution, covers part of the journal's operating costs, which allows it to maintain a sustainable editorial model aligned with the principles of open access. However, the journal does not currently receive external funding from commercial companies or entities with editorial interests in the published content.
In recognition of the academic work, CCD offers an APC exemption to reviewers who have collaborated with the evaluation of five articles, provided that this review has been carried out in accordance with the deadlines and conditions established by the editorial team. The editors of the journal are also exempt from the payment of APCs.
Likewise, the journal requests authors to include, in the acknowledgements section, a statement of the sources of funding of their research, if any, thus promoting transparency and traceability of the resources used in the published studies.
Content dissemination policy
Cultura, Ciencia y Deporte (CCD) is published under an open access policy, which means that all articles are available free of charge and without restrictions from the moment of publication, without embargo periods, to any reader or institution. This model facilitates the global dissemination of scientific knowledge and promotes its reuse.
Authors retain the copyright of their works and grant the journal a license to publish. The contents are published under a Creative Commons Attribution - Non-Commercial - Share Alike (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) license, which allows copying, distribution, public communication and adaptation of the works, provided that authorship is properly acknowledged, it is not used for commercial purposes and any derivative works are shared under the same license.
Regarding the use of third party materials (images, figures, tables, etc.), the authors must guarantee that they have the necessary permissions for their inclusion in the manuscript, or, failing that, that the material is under licenses compatible with reuse in an academic publication. This information should be adequately reflected in the sources and legends.
To improve the visibility and traceability of its contents, all articles published in CCD have a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and are indexed in national and international databases such as Web of Science, Scopus, DOAJ, Latindex and others.
The journal provides access to its metadata through the OAI-PMH protocol, which facilitates its harvesting by catalogs, search engines and scientific aggregators. The metadata includes detailed information on authorship, affiliation, funding, licensing and keywords, in human- and machine-readable formats.
Together, these measures ensure that Culture, Science and Sport content is easily accessible, reusable and interoperable, in accordance with the principles of open science and established editorial quality standards.
Conservation and preservation policy
Cultura, Ciencia y Deporte (CCD), under the technical supervision of the Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM), maintains a firm commitment to the long-term conservation of the scientific content it publishes. To this end, the journal uses the Open Journal Systems (OJS) editorial management system, which provides a robust and secure structure for editing, storing and retrieving digital objects.
Among these measures, the implementation of a backup system in the cloud, which allows scheduled backups of all data and files hosted on institutional servers, stands out. This mechanism ensures the recovery of data in the event of possible technical failures or unforeseen contingencies, protecting both published articles and metadata, evaluations and records related to the editorial process.
In addition, the technological environment is continuously monitored, making it possible to anticipate and plan migrations to new formats or platforms in the event of technical obsolescence, in order to maintain the accessibility of the contents over time.
Each published article has a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) managed through CrossRef, which acts as a unique and permanent link, guaranteeing the traceability and stable retrieval of documents even in the event of changes in the journal's digital infrastructure.
Through these coordinated actions, Culture, Science and Sport ensures that its scientific production is stable, accessible and preserved in the long term.
Gender equality policy
Cultura, Ciencia y Deporte is committed to mainstreaming gender equality in all aspects of its editorial policy, following the principles of equity, impartiality and scientific quality and European recommendations in the field of research.
The journal promotes a balanced gender representation in its editorial management bodies, ensuring that at least 40% of the members of the Editorial Team, the Editorial Board and the stable group of reviewers are of different genders, thus favoring an equal participation in decision-making and in the evaluation of manuscripts. This balance is reviewed periodically to maintain an inclusive and representative editorial structure.
CCD strictly applies the principle of non-discrimination on the basis of sex/gender - as well as any other personal or social condition - throughout the editorial process. Decisions on the acceptance of manuscripts are based solely on criteria of scientific quality and thematic adequacy, evaluated through a system of blind peer review, which guarantees impartiality in the evaluation of the contents.
Aware of the role that language plays in the transmission of bias, the journal encourages the use of inclusive language in published articles, in accordance with international recommendations in this area. The instructions for authors include basic guidelines to avoid sexist or exclusionary expressions.
Likewise, authors are invited to consider the sex/gender variable in the design, analysis and presentation of their research, when methodologically relevant. During the submission process, authors should indicate whether they have taken this variable into account in their results, as part of their commitment to a more gender-sensitive science.
With this set of measures, CCD actively contributes to the visibility, participation and equal recognition of women and men in science, as well as to the generation of knowledge with a gender perspective.
