Special Issue - Gamification in Physical Education and Sport

Dear authors, readers and reviewers of Cultura, Ciencia y Deporte,

We are pleased to inform you that we have enabled a new monograph to which you can send your articles. It is entitled "Gamification in Physical Education and Sport: An empirical approach to the most current research".

The editors of the monograph are: Dr. Antonio Muñoz Llerena (University of Seville), Dr. Pilar Gómez del Rey (University of Seville) and Dr. Gonzalo Flores Aguilar (University of Seville).

This special issue aims to contribute to the consolidation of gamification in the current scientific panorama as a didactic-methodological strategy suitable for generating positive effects in its participants. Manuscripts related to the following topics will be accepted:

  • Effects of gamification on students: physical education (kindergarten, primary, secondary, high school), higher education (sports science, teacher training).
  • Effects of gamification on users of sport activities: athletes, users of training centers, etc.
  • Effects of gamification on teachers/coaches.
  • Perceptions about gamification: students, users/athletes, teachers, coaches, etc.
  • Study of the basic characteristics for the design and implementation of gamification.
  • Study of the prevalence of gamification: physical education, sports programs, teacher training, etc.


Manuscripts should be submitted before June 1, 2025.

Special Issue - Advances in Training Optimisation: Performance, Health and Injury Prevention in Sport

Dear authors, readers and reviewers of Cultura, Ciencia y Deporte,

We are delighted to present this Special Issue to which you can send your articles. It is entitled "Advances in optimising performance: Strength, health and injury prevention in sport".

The editors of the Special Issue are PhD. Pedro Alcaraz (UCAM Universidad Católica de Murcia), PhD. Tomás T. Freitas (UCAM Universidad Católica de Murcia), PhD. Konstantinos Spyrou (UCAM Universidad Católica de Murcia), PhD. Elena Marín-Cascales (UCAM Universidad Católica de Murcia).

The issue seeks to disseminate evidence-based training methods and cutting-edge research in applied strength and conditioning, with a focus on enhancing sports performance, preventing injuries, advancing rehabilitation, and promoting overall health.

We invite authors who presented abstracts at the SCS 7th Annual Conference to submit full-text versions of their work. However, submissions are open to all researchers exploring athletic and non-athletic populations, addressing a range of health conditions, across different sports, competition levels, age groups, and training backgrounds.

Manuscripts must be submitted by 30 September 2025.
