Determining the most relevant injuries in each sport, both in terms of frequency and severity, is essential and
represents the initial step in their prevention. The aim of this research was to perform an epidemiological study in
athletics throwing, involving 66 Spanish elite throwers. We analyzed the injury rate, the most affected body region,
the most frequent injuries, and their relationship with variables such as gender, throwing modality, category, and
competitive level. A questionnaire, developed ad hoc from the Injury Surveillance System questionnaire of the National
Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), was administered. The results showed that, despite a higher number of
exposure hours at a higher competitive level, there was a lower injury rate. The lower limb was identified as the most
affected body part, with overloads being the most common injury, particularly related to muscle problems.
